01
Consent to treatment
You are voluntarily requesting and consenting to receive massage therapy. The massage offered is for the purposes of general wellness, stress reduction, and relief of muscular tension only.
You will remain draped with a sheet for the entire session, with only the area being worked on uncovered at any one time. The breasts and genital area stay covered throughout and are never worked on.
02
Health & medical history
Please list any injuries, medical conditions, surgeries, allergies, or medications Ryan should know about, along with any areas you'd like avoided. If there is nothing, write "none."
Some conditions make massage inadvisable. If you are pregnant, have a heart condition, blood clots, uncontrolled high blood pressure, recent surgery, or are under a physician's care, please tell Ryan before the session begins.
03
Comfort and your right to stop
Pressure is adjustable at any point, and you never need a reason. If anything hurts, feels wrong, or you simply want something different, say so and it changes immediately.
Either you or Ryan may end the session at any time.
04
Risks and understanding
Risks associated with massage therapy include, but are not limited to:
- Superficial bruising.
- Short-term muscle soreness.
- Exacerbation of an undiscovered injury.
Massage therapy is not a substitute for medical examination or treatment. You should see a physician or other qualified health specialist for any mental or physical ailment you are aware of. Massage therapists do not diagnose illness or disease, and nothing said during a session should be taken as diagnosis.
05
Massage for Subconscious Tension
If you have booked Massage for Subconscious Tension, the session is active rather than passive. You'll be asked to keep moment to moment awareness in your body, breathe toward the areas being worked, and notice what changes. Position changes and breathing mechanics are part of the technique.
Because this work engages the nervous system, emotion occasionally surfaces during a session. This is normal and it is not the goal. Ryan will pace the work accordingly, and you can stop or change direction at any time.
