Symbology Bodywork

Mobile massage in Oakland & Berkeley

In-home somatic bodywork and Emotional Release Therapy across Oakland, Berkeley and the inner East Bay.

Ryan Calhoon runs a mobile bodywork practice across Oakland, Berkeley and the inner East Bay. Sessions take place in your own home, or a hotel or place of business if that suits better.

Somatic work in the East Bay

People here often arrive already fluent. They know what a nervous system is doing when it will not settle, they have read the books, and some are already in somatic or trauma-informed therapy. What they are usually looking for is the hands-on half of that work from someone who will not be startled by it.

Emotional Release Therapy is the session that most often brings people from Oakland and Berkeley specifically. It is Pat Jackman's method, and Ryan is one of the practitioners she trained.

If none of that means anything to you

That is fine, and it is most people. You do not need any of the vocabulary to book. Say your back hurts, or that you cannot switch off, and Ryan will tell you which session fits.

Sessions and rates

Traditional Massage $150 / $225 / $275. Massage for Subconscious Tension and ERT $175 / $250 / $300. Two-hour hybrid $300, which is the session most people take when they want both.

Questions

Do you work with people already in somatic therapy?
Often. Many clients here already see a somatic or trauma-informed therapist and want hands-on work alongside it. Ryan is a massage therapist, not a therapist, and the two go well together.
Which East Bay areas do you cover?
Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville, Albany, El Cerrito, Piedmont and Alameda, plus the rest of the greater Bay Area.
Which inner East Bay towns are covered?
Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville, Piedmont, Alameda, Albany, El Cerrito and Richmond, along with Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Concord and the rest of Contra Costa. If a town is not listed, ask anyway.
Do I need a massage table or a spare room?
No. Ryan brings the table, or a chair, and all supplies. A clear space of roughly six by eight feet is enough, in whichever room works for you.
